I'm Umar, founder of Umar Digital. I design and build clean, mobile-friendly websites for restaurants, cafés, gyms, clinics, and salons — so your business looks as good online as it does in person.
Who I Help

About Me
My name is Umar Hasan, and I run Umar Digital — a small, independent web design practice based in Kandy.
By day, I'm an undergraduate studying Biomedical Science at Edith Cowan University Sri Lanka. By choice, I spend my evenings and weekends building websites for local businesses.
I got into web design because I kept noticing the same problem: brilliant local businesses — restaurants with loyal regulars, gyms with dedicated members, clinics trusted by entire families — with no real website to show for it. I wanted to fix that, by building clean, honest, easy-to-use sites that make a business look as credible online as it already is in person.
Studying science has taught me to be methodical, patient, and detail-oriented, and I bring that same discipline into every website I build. I speak English, Sinhala, and Tamil — so wherever you're from in Sri Lanka, we can talk in whichever language is easiest for you.
Why Work With Me
Here's what working with a small, focused practice actually means for you.
No account manager, no support ticket system. When you message Umar Digital, you're messaging the same person designing and building your site.
I only take on one or two projects at a time. That's a deliberate choice — it means I can give your website real attention.
Before any work begins, you'll know exactly what you're paying for and why. No vague quotes. No hidden charges added halfway through.
Every site I build is designed mobile-first, because that's how most of your customers will find you — from a shared link or an Instagram tap.
Services
Every project starts with a conversation. Here's what I offer.
A complete website for your restaurant, café, gym, clinic, salon, retail store, or service business — your menu or services, your story, your hours, and a simple way to reach you.
One focused page for a specific purpose: a new menu launch, a membership offer, a clinic service, or a one-off event. Quick to share, built around a single clear action.
Rebuilding an outdated, slow, or awkward-on-phone site from the ground up — keeping what's working and rebuilding the experience around it.
Most customers visit from a phone. If your current site is hard to read or slow to load on mobile, I can fix that — properly.
Beyond the site itself — making sure your business connects properly to Google Maps and WhatsApp, and shows up clearly when someone searches for you.
When your site is ready, I don't just hand you a link and disappear. I'll record a personalized video walkthrough — or sit down with you in person or on a call — and show you exactly how to update your own text, photos, prices, and menu items. You'll have full control, with no recurring fees just to make small updates.

A note on these projects: The three projects below are concept designs — built by me to demonstrate how I approach real business problems through design. They are not commissioned client work. I'm sharing them so you can see exactly how I think and build, before you ever have to take a risk on a real project.

Target audience
A mid-sized restaurant or café in a busy area, serving regulars and people discovering it for the first time.
Approach
Most local restaurants rely entirely on Instagram, which makes it hard for a new visitor to find practical information. I designed a single-page site built around one core action: helping a hungry visitor decide to come in or order, in well under a minute.
Highlights
The site opens with a strong food photo and immediate access to the menu and location — no unnecessary clicks. Menu items are grouped by category with prices clearly listed, and a WhatsApp button makes reservations instant. The gallery and story section give first-time visitors a feel for the restaurant before they even walk in.

Target audience
A local gym or fitness studio aiming to attract serious members — people ready to commit, not just casual browsers.
Approach
I focused on energy and clarity — strong visuals of the space paired with a simple, scannable breakdown of membership plans and what's included. The goal: feel motivated in the first few seconds, then see exactly how to take the next step.
Highlights
The design leads with energy — a bold gym photo and a direct 'Join Now' button connected to WhatsApp. Membership tiers are shown as simple comparison cards with no confusing fine print. A weekly class schedule and trainer cards give visitors everything they need to commit, all in one scroll.

Target audience
A general clinic or specialist practice where patients need clear, trustworthy information — often while feeling rushed.
Approach
Healthcare visitors are often a little stressed. I prioritized calm navigation, large readable text, and an obvious path to either book an appointment or get directions. Every choice — colour, spacing, button size — was made to reduce friction.
Highlights
Every design decision here was made to reduce anxiety. Large readable text, calm colors, and an obvious 'Book an Appointment' button mean patients can find what they need without confusion. Services are listed in plain everyday language rather than clinical terminology, and the location and hours are impossible to miss.
I intentionally limit myself to one or two projects at a time. This isn't about exclusivity — it's about quality. If you're thinking about working together, reaching out early means a better chance of starting sooner.
The Process
A simple conversation — over WhatsApp, a call, or in person — about your business, what you need, and what success looks like. No jargon, no pressure.
I'll guide you through exactly what photos, text, and information we need. If something's missing, I'll help you figure out the simplest way to get it.
I design and build the site, sharing progress along the way so there are no surprises. You'll review and request changes before anything goes live.
We launch the site. Then I walk you through exactly how to use and update it yourself — so you leave with both a website and the confidence to manage it.
